FOOD FOR LIFE ACQUIRES NEW REFRIGERATED VAN TO SUPPORT FOOD SOURCING AND REDISTRIBUTION IN NORTH HALTON
Food for Life acknowledges the generous support of the Hadley Family Foundation for funding the brand-new van and the Milton community for their contribution to the Grow the GOOD Campaign.
MILTON – Through the generous support of the Hadley Family Foundation and the Grow the GOOD campaign, Food for Life announces their new refrigerated van is ready to serve the Milton Community.
This van will help in the rescue and redistribution of surplus food to our neighbours experiencing food insecurity in the most efficient manner. As well, Food for Life will be using the van to deliver a new mobile food outreach program Wednesday evening at Milton Sports Centre thanks to our partnership with Milton Optimist Club.
“We continue to see a rise in people seeking food assistance from Food for Life. We serve approximately 3500 households each week and we have seen a staggering 30% increase from this time last year driven largely by the impact of COVID-19” said Graham Hill, Executive Director of Food for Life. “It is community collaborations like this that help to provide more fresh and nutritious food to more people in need.”
The Grow the GOOD campaign, which concluded Thanksgiving Monday, generated tremendous support from the Milton community. Every community dollar donated was TRIPLED thanks to The Hadley Family Foundation. The need for food support is up 30% and these funds will ensure resources are available to serve safely now and through the recovery period.
Food for Life is a community leader in ensuring everyone has access to healthy food and is committed to making Milton hunger-free as quickly as possible.
