Volunteer Role
Reports to Operations Committee Chair
7-8 meetings per year (2-3 hours per meeting)
Preferably for a two-year term
Meetings are primarily virtual with an occasional in-person meeting

Food for Life Halton & Hamilton is the regional leader in rescuing and distributing GOOD fresh and frozen food. We support the community by providing healthy food to a network of non-profits and partners who offer food support programs. Food for Life is a thought leader in the space, built on a unique supply chain model that is driven by environmental sustainability.
Food for Life is at an exciting stage of its evolution, and we are looking for the right people to provide insight, guidance, and oversight as part of our GOOD Governance and Committee work.
This volunteer role is an exciting evolution at Food for Life as we continue to ensure everyone has access to GOOD healthy food. Your skills and knowledge will inform and guide the Committee Chair, Executive Director and Director of Operations on matters including but not limited to areas such as:
- Operations of our 13,000 sq. ft cold storage facility
- Logistics and management of our fleet of 7 refrigerated vehicles including 4 DZ straight trucks and 3 large format vans
- Connections in the food industry to help attract more food donors of GOOD surplus food
- Human Resources, industry trends and statistics
- Health and Safety expertise
You bring some great operational leadership skills, a desire to grow, and a can-do attitude. You may have 1 year or 30 years of experience, we are not fussed as for the right person with the right skills.
Committee work reports to the Board of Directors through the Committee Chair. Participation on a Committee carries no legal risk or obligations to the members unless they are also a member of the Board of Directors.
About YOU
You are comfortable working in a caring environment that involves a combination of in-person and remote work and having the fashion sense of wearing steel-toed safety shoes as required.
You are an active learner with experience in the charitable business sector or similar corporate experience.
You can commit to the committee to be active and engaged.
